30034 Home Sales Report 2019 5-Year Update and New City in South DeKalb?
Home sales in Decatur Zip Code 30034 had another successful year even though sales only increased from the prior year by less than 1%. 404 properties were sold in Decatur Zip Code 30034 which includes Chapel Hill, Kings Row, Rainbow Creek and many others in 2018. 402 homes were sold in 2017. However, if you go back to 2013 there were only 270 homes that were sold.
Prices have increased as well. The median price of a home were as follows $150,000 in 2018, $125,000 in 2017 and only $65,000 in 2013. Thats a 131% increase over the 5-year period. We definitely do not want to see those times again.
In most zips codes in DeKalb the average days on the market increased showing signs that the market is getting back to the normal 60-90 days on the market. But looking back at the dire times in 2013 it took 51 days for a home to sell, but in 2018 in took over a month to sell at 31 days.
The highest priced home sold in Decatur 30034 in 2018 was $371,715 and the lowest was $42,000. Compare with 2013 and the lowest priced sold home in 2013 was, get this, $850. Yes, that’s how bad things were.
Legislators are back in session for 2019 today and will soon take up a bill for the future of the proposed city of Greenhaven. This city would encompass all of South Dekalb and a 300,000 population.
